Although cold calling used to be one of the most effective marketing techniques for businesses, it is now pretty much a thing of the past. This is the method of marketing that most businesses relied on just a decade ago but things have truly changed, especially with the popularity of the Internet and the technological advances of our generation. One thing that does work well today to catch people’s attention is a sales letter. Studies have shown that the sales letter is one of the best ways for any business to bring in a larger customer base.
Even studies have shown that for the past four years in particular, cold calling has not been considered as that effective a marketing method. These days industries are so congested that there is pretty much a million different businesses just like each other. Your purpose then is to use your sales letter to show people why they should take an interest in your business in particular. This is one of the best ways of gaining business and you want to keep it in a personal tone.
Things should still be kept professional but casual and laidback at the same time. When you keep things on a more personal level people are going to respond better and studies have even gone to prove this is true. While other types of business letters are often more serious, with a sales letter you want to act as though you were talking to the readers in person. You should also include three separate sections in a sales letter, which all end up blending in nicely together.
The beginning of your letter is where you use your headline and intro. There must be a beginning, middle and end in order to have an effective sales letter. This is what readers will look at first and use to decide whether they are going to pass on the letter or actually read it. People are so busy these days that if they think they are going to be wasting their time by reading your letter they just will not do it.
When it comes to the body of a sales letter, it should be detailed but keep with the simple tone. You never know who is going to actually end up reading your sales letter so you want to make sure they do not end up confused. You can still include all the information you want only instead of having to come up with the design and format of the letter yourself, it will be done for you. Try to keep your sales letter to a maximum of five pages, so that readers do not end up frustrated over the immense length of your letter.
